SUMMARY:Mapping Made Easy
DESCRIPTION:In this 4-part series\, participants will learn how to create
simple maps that require no GIS/mapping experience using four web-based
mapping tools: Humap\, Social Explorer\, Tableau\, and ArcGIS Story
Maps.\n\nEach session will focus on the four mapping platform listed above
starting with an overview of key features and culminating with a live
demonstration of how to make maps with each tool.\n\nMore details about
each mapping platform:\n\nHumap is a web-based mapping tool for creating
 interactive\, multimedia-rich maps with storytelling\, timelines\, data
 overlays\, and crowdsourced contributions.\n\nSocial Explorer is a
web-based tool for accessing and visualizing data on a range of topics with
over five-hundred thousand data indicators related to demographics\,
 economy\, health\, education\, politics\, crime\, environment\, etc. at
 many geographic levels including national\, state\, county\, ZIP\,
 neighborhood\, etc.\n\nTableau\, a data visualization tool\, includes a
map-making feature that allows users to create interactive\, geographical
visualizations. These maps help display data that has a location
 component—such as countries\, cities\, postal codes\, or
coordinates—enabling users to spot spatial patterns and trends.\n\nArcGIS
Storymaps is a web-based storytelling tool that allows users to combine
maps with narrative text\, images\, videos\, and other multimedia content
to create engaging\, interactive stories.\n\nRegistration required for each
session.\n\nNo previous experience necessary.\n\nFree and open to the
 public.
