Love Data Week: Working with Census Microdata

Love Data Week: Working with Census Microdata

This workshop provides a beginner-friendly introduction to U.S. Census microdata, which consists of individual-level and household-level survey responses rather than aggregated statistics. Learn how to access microdata through the Census Bureau’s API, including key datasets like the American Community Survey (ACS). The session will also explore other resources, such as IPUMS, which offers harmonized microdata with user-friendly data tools. Attendees will gain practical skills for retrieving and analyzing census microdata, making it an ideal session for students and researchers of all levels interested in demographic and economic trends.
