Software Carpentry: Plotting and Programming in Python

The University of Mississippi Libraries is hosting a Software Carpentry Python programming workshop for UM researchers, faculty, and graduate students on Wednesday, September 18th at the Jackson Avenue Center from 9:00 - 4:30. 

This full-day workshop is taught by UM Libraries faculty who are certified Carpentries instructors and will cover the Carpentries lesson Plotting and Programming in Python. Attendance is free, and meals and refreshments will be provided by the UM Libraries.

Workshop will cover: 

  • Introduction to Python
  • Creating and manipulating variables
  • Using functions and libraries
  • Lists, loops, and conditionals
  • Working with data frames with Pandas
  • Plotting with matplotlib

Workshop capacity is limited to 40 participants. Please fill out the application below, briefly describing your interest in the workshop.
