Intermediate R for Grad Students

Intermediate R for Grad Students

Intermediate R for Graduate Students is a four week in-person workshop that builds on the skills offered in the R for Graduate Students seven-week series. Students who have previously taken R for Graduate Students, or students who have independent experience working in RStudio, are welcomed to sign up for this workshop. NOTE: Due to the teaching venue, this workshop series is limited to 15 participants.

This workshop will cover:

  • Base R notations, the apply functions, and creating your own simple functions
  • Pivoting from wide to long formats
  • Basics of working with strings (stringr), dates (lubridate), and factors (forcats)
  • Additional plotting skills (adding text and labels, formatting)

This series is limited to current graduate students at the University of Mississippi and is offered Tuesdays from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the J. D. Williams Library (Harrison Room, 3rd Floor) on the following dates: September 3, 10, 17, and 24. It is mandatory that participants are able to attend all four sessions in this series due to the limited number of seats available.
