Attack of the Bots: How to Protect Online Surveys from Fraud Online
Bots and scammers are a perennial problem for people running online surveys. This workshop focuses on strategies for identifying fraudulent responses and strategies for preventing bots and scammers from overtaking your surveys in the first place.
Examples given during the workshop will be shown using the Qualtrics survey platform, which is available free of charge to UM students and employees (see instructions here under the Research Software heading for how to create an account). Some strategies will be specific to Qualtrics, while others can be applied more broadly on other platforms, such as Google Forms or SurveyMonkey.
